Our Story

Built by hand.
Driven by meaning.

Mastier began with a simple frustration: you could spend a fortune on a watch, or get something mass-produced that felt like everyone else's. Neither felt right.

So Zaid and Matt built a third option. A watch that starts with you — choose the movement, the dial, the case, the strap. We assemble it by hand and ship it.

Every watch we build is the only one like it in the world. That is the point.

About Mastier

We build watches
that mean something.

Every Mastier is assembled by hand in Virginia by two people who believe a watch should be personal, mechanical, and made to last a generation.

Mastier started from a shared obsession with mechanical watches and a frustration with what the market offered at honest prices. You could buy something generic from a big brand. Or you could spend years saving for something rare. There was no middle path that was both genuinely personal and genuinely well-made.

So we created one.

The Workshop

We work out of a small workshop in Virginia. Every watch is assembled by Zaid and Matt — no outsourced labor, no third-party build house. We pressure-test each case, regulate each movement, and inspect every component before anything ships.

We use Swiss mechanical movements from Sellita and ETA — the same calibers found in watches priced at several times what we charge. The difference is that we don't spend your money on boutique retail or brand marketing. We spend it on the parts.

Why Bespoke

A watch you configured yourself, from components you chose, assembled specifically for you — that's a fundamentally different object from a watch you pulled off a shelf. It carries a different kind of meaning. It's the watch you designed, not the one you settled for.

Every Mastier is the only one of its exact configuration in the world. That's not a marketing line. It's just the consequence of building each one to order.

01
Swiss Movements Only

Sellita and ETA calibers. Regulated, tested, and installed by hand before every watch ships.

02
Hand-Assembled, Always

Two people. One workshop. No factory. No batch production. Built to order, every time.

03
Singular by Design

Every configuration is unique. The watch you build is the only one of its kind that exists.

04
Transparent Pricing

You see the component cost. No opaque brand markup. The price reflects the parts and the craft.

The Founders

Zaid Mastou

Zaid's background is in precision craftsmanship and brand building. He oversees every configuration, handles customer communication, and assembles the majority of the builds.

Matt

Ordering & Configuration
How does the configurator work?
You choose each component of your watch step by step — movement, dial, hands, case, strap, packaging, and engraving. Once you submit your order, Zaid and Matt review your build and confirm compatibility before production begins.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Yes, within 48 hours of placing your order you can request changes at no charge. After production begins, changes may carry a small fee depending on what has already been assembled.
Do you offer consultations for custom builds?
Absolutely. If you want help choosing components — or have something specific in mind that isn't in the configurator — email matt@mastier.co and we'll work through it together.
Are all component combinations compatible?
We design the configurator to only surface components that work together. We also review every order manually before production starts, so if something doesn't fit we'll reach out before we build anything.
Can I buy a watch that isn't custom — just pick one you've already designed?
Not currently. Every Mastier is built to order. That's central to what we are. If you want a recommendation based on your taste, email us and we'll suggest a build.
Production
How long does it take to build my watch?
Production takes 3–5 weeks from order confirmation. Complex engravings or special components may add a week. We'll keep you updated at each stage.
Where is the watch assembled?
Every Mastier is hand-assembled in our workshop in Virginia, USA by Zaid and Matt. We don't use a third-party assembly house.
What movements do you use?
We use Swiss automatic movements from Sellita and ETA — the same calibers found in watches sold at several times our price. All movements are regulated and tested before installation.
Do you do water resistance testing?
Yes. Each case is pressure-tested before the watch leaves our workshop. ATM ratings listed per case are what the manufacturer certifies; we verify the seal is intact before shipment.
Shipping
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We currently ship to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of Europe. If your country isn't listed at checkout, email us — we may still be able to help.
How is the watch packaged for shipping?
Your watch ships double-boxed — the presentation box inside a padded outer shipping carton. All orders are fully insured and require a signature on delivery.
How long does shipping take once the watch is built?
Domestic (US): 2–3 business days via FedEx or UPS. International: 5–10 business days. You receive a tracking number as soon as your package leaves the workshop.
What if my package arrives damaged?
Contact us immediately at matt@mastier.co with photos. Every shipment is insured at full value. We'll arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.
Warranty & Returns
What warranty do you offer?
Two years from the date of delivery. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the movement, case, and dial. It does not cover normal wear, scratches, or water damage from exceeding the case's rated depth.
Can I return a custom watch?
Because every Mastier is built specifically for you, we don't accept returns for change of mind. If there's a defect or error on our part, we'll make it right — repair, replace, or refund, at our discretion.
What if something breaks outside of warranty?
We offer servicing for all watches we've built. Movement service, crystal replacement, case polishing — email us and we'll quote a flat rate. We'd rather keep your watch running than see it shelved.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email matt@mastier.co with your order number and a description of the issue. We'll send a prepaid return label and handle the rest.

Warranty

We stand behind
every build.

Two-year limited warranty on every Mastier. Not boilerplate — we actually fix things.

Coverage

Every Mastier comes with a two-year limited warranty from the date of delivery, covering:

ComponentCoveredDuration
Movement (Sellita / ETA)Manufacturing defects, regulation failure2 years
Case & CrownSealing defects, water resistance failure at rated depth2 years
Dial & HandsLoose, misaligned, or defective at time of delivery2 years
CrystalDefects in coating or bonding2 years
EngravingQuality as specified at order2 years
What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

Normal wear and aging — scratches to the case, crystal, or bracelet; fading of lume; worn straps. These are expected and do not indicate a defect.

Accidental damage — drops, impacts, dents, or crystal damage from impact.

Water damage from exceeding the case's rated depth or operating the crown while submerged.

Unauthorized service or modification — any watch opened or serviced by someone other than Mastier or an authorized watchmaker voids the warranty on that component.

Theft or loss — we are not responsible for watches lost after delivery.

Servicing Beyond Warranty

We service every watch we've ever built, at any age. Movement service, crystal replacement, pressure testing, case polishing, strap replacement — email us and we'll quote a flat rate.

A mechanical watch is designed to last a lifetime with proper care. We'd rather keep yours running than see it stop.

Movement service interval: We recommend a full movement service (clean, oil, regulate) every 5–7 years for a watch worn daily. We can perform this at our workshop.

How to Make a Claim

Step 1: Email matt@mastier.co with your order number and a description of the issue. Photos are helpful.

Step 2: We'll review and respond within 2 business days. If the issue is covered, we'll send a prepaid return shipping label.

Step 3: Once we receive the watch, we'll assess, repair or replace, and return it to you — typically within 2–3 weeks.

There is no cost to you for warranty repairs, including return shipping.
